Addiction Resources

Drug & Alcohol Addiction

We believe that individuals with mental health and drug or alcohol abuse histories can be safely reintegrated into their communities and remain productive members in their communities. We realize the serious impact on our Virginia communities with rising concerns of opioid addition in our adult populations, including our young adults. We help to give people the best chance of long-term recovery from opioid use disorder, working with medical doctors providing medications in addiction treatment to get the best outcomes through counseling and behavioral therapies for a whole-patient approach.

At Risk of Returning to Inpatient Treatment Facilities and/or Re-incarceration

Groups are offered in three 10-week modules: Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance. Each module begins with Mindfulness skills work. Each session includes homework review, introduction of new skills, and an opportunity to role play or otherwise practice the skills.

Family involvement is essential for a client’s recovery. We provide a range of opportunities for families to be involved in the recovery journey, including orientation and education, family counseling, and support groups. These groups help families or friends support their loved ones. Weekly 90-minute sessions offered in six-week increments help participants learn DBT skills to support family members and understand family dynamics. Participants will learn skills and practice with one another through modeling.

During home visits, an Independence Coach ensures clients are successfully adjusting to independent living and are taking their medications appropriately. The coach also helps with practical matters like paying bills, planning transportation, accessing community resources, and making and sticking to a schedule. The coach designs an individualized Independence plan to address areas that are most important to the client. The Independence Coach may also accompany the client on a community outing, like a trip to the grocery store.
